Twenty horsepower, four thousand dollars, and more charm than most bikes with four times the power.

The review
Five parts, no spec-sheet copying.
“Twenty horsepower is enough to learn everything that matters. The rest is just arriving sooner.
Mechanical Breakdown
The J-series 349cc single is a long-stroke, two-valve, pushrod-free SOHC design with a counterbalancer, built for durability rather than revs. It makes its 27 Nm at just 4,000 rpm. The Hunter puts that engine in the shortest, lightest chassis Royal Enfield offers, with 17-inch wheels and steeper geometry than the Classic or Meteor.
The 2025 update improved the rear shock, added a slipper clutch, LED lighting, and a small TFT-style display. Brakes are a 300 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and dual-channel ABS.
Ride Character
It thumps. Not aggressively, but with the kind of steady beat that makes you ride slower and enjoy it more. Top speed is around 115 km/h, so this is a city and back-road bike. Within that envelope, it is surprisingly good: the steering is quick for a 181 kg machine and the seat is one of the best in the price range.
Vibration is present above 90 km/h, and the engine is happiest between 50 and 80.
Maintenance Outlook
This is the most owner-serviceable bike in the entire list. Valve checks are screw-and-locknut at 10,000 km, a job you can do with two spanners and a feeler gauge in half an hour. Oil changes are trivial. Parts are absurdly cheap, and Royal Enfield's global expansion means dealers are easier to find each year.
Who It's For
A first rider on a strict budget, a city commuter, or anyone who wants a beautiful, simple machine to learn maintenance on. Not for anyone with a highway commute.
Jun's Verdict
The Hunter 350 is the cheapest real motorcycle you should consider, and it is not cheap-feeling. Its limitations are honest: it is slow, and it does not pretend otherwise. As a teacher of both riding and wrenching, it punches far above its price.
